Do You Know This About Palm Sunday?
Traditionally, Palm Sunday is celebrated as Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. People march to Church, carrying palm fronds or crosses made from them. The joyful shout of “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord” fills the air. Luke 19:29-39; Matthew 21:1-9
Some people understand the Scripture behind this celebration, while others simply observe it as a religious obligation.
While the sight of a tin of chocolates is inviting, the true sweetness is in the eating. Please don’t take the tin without the chocolate. Here are five chocolates to enjoy and reflect on:
1. A Fulfilled Prophecy
Palm Sunday was the fulfilment of prophecy. The gap between the books of Zechariah and Matthew is estimated to be about 460–500 years. What does this mean for you and me?
It means that every prophecy, blessing, and promise that has been delayed will surely be fulfilled. This season, may every delayed promise come to pass in Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. The Tied Colt
This event marked Christ’s triumphant entry, yet there was a challenge: what would the King ride on? Looking around, they couldn’t see anything, and buying one would be an issue because they couldn’t afford the tax, so they had previously relied on the money from the mouth of the fish. Matthew 17:27
Jesus instructed them to go and get a colt that was tied somewhere. If the owner asked, they were to say, “The Lord has need of it.”
There is promotion, elevation, goodness, success, progress, wealth, and life tied somewhere, waiting for you. You may not see it yet, or it may be in someone else’s possession. Call it forth. Go for it boldly. Do not sit back; it belongs to you.
May that tied colt be released for you in Yeshua’s name. Amen.
3. The Lesson of Humility
Jesus could have ridden on a white horse or a royal chariot, yet He chose a colt. He exemplified humility. God gives grace to the humble and exalts them in due season.
As we let go of pride and embrace humility, may we be exalted this season in Jesus’ name. Amen.
4. Honour Beyond Limitations
Though Jesus rode on a colt, He was still glorified. The people did not focus on what He rode on, they honoured who He was.
May you be honoured regardless of your background, limitations, colour, race, education, or anything that seeks to lower your esteem or status, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
5. Victory and Peace
As Jesus triumphed, so shall you triumph over every trial, hardship, sickness, depression, family trouble, hurts, temptations, loneliness, fear, uncertainty and death in Yeshua’s name. Peace be unto you. Amen.
