Trusting In God

Trusting in the Lord means you rest in Him and believe in Him, that He can do all and provide for your needs.
When you trust God, you have no plan B because you truly believe and confidently know that He is your sufficiency in all things. Jeremiah gives a powerful analogue in the Scripture below.
Jeremiah 17: 5-9 Thus, says the Lord: Cursed be the man that trusteth in man. And maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, And whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be like as a tree planted by the waters, Which spreadeth out her roots by the river, And shall see not when heat cometh, But her leaf shall be green, and shall not be careful in the year of drought, Neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
When I visited Israel on a pilgrimage, we were driving through the desert going to Jericho and the Holy Spirit dropped in my Spirit that this is the type of environment that people who trust in men instead of Christ live in.
It was extremely hot, dry, and uninhabitable, no life in the desert, no trees, just shrubs with no fruit. A life without Christ is a cursed, hopeless life and frustrated life. When you put your trust in men, they will let you down; man is limited and unreliable in what he can give you for your sustenance.
There is nothing to quench the thirst, no growth, no fruit in the desert. Those without God do not see the goodness of the Lord; they cannot appreciate anything good because of the hostility of the environment.
But blessed is that man who trusts in the Lord, for he shall be like a tree planted by waters and can spread their roots and draw water and nutrients from the Lord, who is our abundant source. If you are planted by the waters, you are guaranteed an endless supply of water and you are constantly refreshed and cleansed with the Word, therefore remaining purified. These kinds of people are not moved when the heat of challenges come because they trust in their God who is their source.
In the year of drought of sickness, lack, or trials they are not moved, and their lives will continue to flourish when others are crying and hopeless. They will continue to produce fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and self-control.
Lord help us trust not in men but in You. You are our source, and You refresh us and lift our heads up always, even in the midst of heat and drought.
