Assuring Grace

Matthew 14:25-29 KJV  And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.  And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

As I read this passage of scripture, I see an aspect of Peter’s character that we all can learn from, boldness to ask Jesus to help him achieve that which he could never do on his own and his willingness to follow through!

Peter did not allow the circumstances of his situation to deter him! Here he sat, on a boat, in the sea, during the fourth watch of the night, and saw what looked like a spirit walking towards him on the water, yet he did not allow fear to overtake him! Having never experienced such an event, his response was quite extraordinary, unnatural. He said, “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

Bid me go beyond the borders of my ability, bid me experience the supernatural, bid me defy all acts of reason, knowledge, and understanding!

Wow! My imagination is flooded with what the church and the body of Yeshua could accomplish with this heart and mindset! How many mountains we could move together!

It reminds me of the scripture

John 14:12-14 KJV Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.

What looks to be out of our ability and reach can be obtained if we only venture to step out of our boat, beyond our ability!

I pray for grace for the body to truly say “bid me to come unto thee on the water”! Oh my, what great exploits can be achieved by calling upon His name.
