I Will Not Be Stopped: I Must Be Healed.

And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
Luke 5:12-13 KJV
Leprosy is perceived as:
· Death - When Miriam was struck with leprosy because she spoke evil of Moses, she turned as white as when dead. Numbers 12:12 KJV
· There is no respect of persons for those who contract it. King Uzziah was thrust out as soon as he became leprous.
2 Chronicles 26:16, 18-21 KJV.
· God commanded to children of Israel to put every leper out of the camp Numbers 5:2 KJV.
· Defilement - “All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be.” Leviticus 13:46 KJV
· A scary sign -To prove to the children of Israel that God sent Moses if they are in doubt, he asked Moses to put his hands in his bosom and it will turn white. If he puts it back in again, it will turn normal. That is enough to convince them. Exodus 4:6-8 KJV.
· Uncleanliness - “And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean.” Leviticus 13:45 KJV. .
I am not sure who is out there, alone in despair and shame. Feeling more leprous than leprosy. You have been rejected and have lost your esteem. You have been beaten and abused. You are in prison for a false accusation. You have lost all you have. You watch others in their gold and embellishments and life seems so unfair. Others succeed in their ventures; you awake to failure. You have been battling with alcoholism and drugs and the fear of dying like a rat grips you. Depression has taken hold of you because of fear of the unknown. Your childhood experience was traumatising. Disappointments have pushed you to the edge of the cliff. You find yourself in a rabbit hole and feel alienated from the rest of us. Unhappy marriage is holding you in life imprisonment. Others are showing off their wedding rings, but you are still single and feel the most unfortunate. You feel thrusted outside the camp, full of leprosy!
This leper knew he had suffered a lot and enough was enough. He picked up courage, strength, boldness, and faith, and walked through the crowd to Jesus. He swallowed his shame, the mocking names, abuse, swearing and cursing. For him, it did not matter what people would say. He went for his healing and could not be stopped. He could not miss the opportunity, the only hope on earth, the light in the tunnel and the hope of salvation. He resolved to move ahead. “If the crowd ran away because of his leprosy, that would be fine; it would clear the way for him.” He had to get to Jesus.
The good thing about this man is that he had an insight and was aware of his situation. He knew when and where to seek help. Sadly, many are not aware of their leprosy, especially when it is spiritual or psychological leprosy.
Leprosy is not what you carry in pride. The disease humiliates and reduces one to nothing. Getting ones' healing is what counts most.
The leper beseeched Jesus, kneeling, and said to Him “If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean”. A broken and contrite spirit, God will not despise. Yes, Jesus can! He was moved with compassion and cleansed him. Christ is our Chief Priest. His blood can clean every form of leprosy. The cleansing is not a prescription for several weeks, there is no next appointment scheduled, it is immediate. Yeshua Hamashiach is passing your way right now. Shout out for help! Deliverance and hope are in Him.
