Lending our Ears with Caution!

During this day and age, it’s vital we pay attention to whom we lend our ear and give our heart. Many with so call “good advice” and “good intentions” often leave us worst off than we were before.
Adam and Eve learned this lesson the hard way. In the garden of Eden, they gave their ear to another, Satan, which altered their way a life. Even though they had daily access and counsel of The Most High, Our Heavenly Father, they entertained the counsel of another. As a result, they lost their covenanted position in the garden, their residence, and their faith!
The scripture in Genesis gives us a snapshot of what happened before their fall.
Genesis 3:9-13 KJV And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Listening to unauthorized, unholy counsel changed the course of Adam’s and Eve’s present life and their future. They allowed the counsel of another to alter their identity, their assignment, and purpose.
As believers, we must be careful to not fall into a similar ditch. We must establish a standard of who can and cannot speak into our lives, otherwise, we put ourselves in positions of peril when we allow unauthorized, unholy, unknown individuals to speak into our spirit, soul, and body.
When we lend our ears and hearts to unvetted vessels, we are contributing to altering the course of our lives and our destiny.
Anyone who does not study the word, live the word, or believe in the word, should not be our counsel. To allow otherwise is to open ourselves up to error, shame, and an inaccurate perception of ourselves. Of such should never be our portion.
