Man’s Spirit, Soul & Body

As believers, it is imperative that we walk not in the flesh, but in the spirit. We are called to a higher purpose, a higher calling, a higher way of being. We are called to holiness.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
Apostle Paul wrote this scripture providing believers with good counsel of what is expected and what is our reasonable service for those waiting for the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We no longer have privy to live as we desire, out of our lust, or as the world. We are expected to and must preserve the entire of our triune being; our spirit, soul (mind, will, emotions), and body.
This may look different for each one of us, but the principle is the same; whatever area of our lives we struggle with, be it sin, or self, we must acknowledge it and bring that aspect of our lives under the subjection of the Holy Word unto the coming of our Lord. We must accept the need for sanctification and pursue it until it comes.
I think of King David, who loved the Lord! He sang and wrote psalms unto the Lord, however, the scripture shows us his spirit, soul, and body were not preserved blameless before the Lord. His love for the Lord was not enough to keep him blameless. He defiled himself with Bathsheba. He attempted to cover up his wrongdoing, which led to more sin and further defilement of his total being.
To keep ourselves as blameless unto the coming of our Lord it is needful we see consecration as a lifestyle and repentance as a gift. The Lord will strengthen and keep us as we keep our hearts fixed on Him.
We no longer are our own selves, but stewards–we were bought with a price.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20KJV
As we consecrate our lives and grow in grace, we can stand on scripture that the whole of our being will be changed, transformed, and renewed.
For we are a new creature, we now have a new life, a new hope, a new way of thinking, being and living. There is much joy in this new status. Let the journey begin!
