Assuring Grace

Peace, that state of tranquillity, calmness, is what many desire to have in this world, yet it remains elusive to most. Our Lord Jesus, knowing the importance of peace says in the Book of

John 14:27, ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Romans 12:18, “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men” Yet despite having given the peace and being admonishedto be at peace, it continues to elude many!

In my one and a half years of ministry, things were so challenging that it felt nearly impossible for me to attain peace. However, now that I havelearnt how to gain it, I refuse to allow anything or anyone to take it awayfrom me, albeit because it came at a huge price -that of knowing that nomatter how aggressive or self-driven I may be, there are things I cannot change or cause to happen when I want them to. After all, this world is too big to always be responding to the whims, dictates or desires of every single person.

How then did I arrive at this place where I enjoy having peace in the midst of turmoil in such a dark world? Firstly, I had to understand the law of process. You develop daily and not in a day. God has set in placelaws that deliver outcomes that are in line with what we sow or put out there. Secondly, I had to understand that God makes all things beautifulin its time. (Eccl.3:11) There is a season and a purpose to everything under heaven (Eccl.3:1) No matter the goal.’

Peace is attained when one understands that no matter how big the challenge, it is simply a small piece of a large puzzle meant to prepare one for that day of success or better still for the fulfilment of one's purpose. Hence, they embrace the process knowing fully well that all things whether good, bad or ugly will be working together for their good because they love God and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

God says in Isaiah 26:3 He will keep us in perfect peace if our minds are stayed on Him, because we trust Him. So why not let go and let God!
