Why Promises Fail part 2

In Part 1 of why some biblical promises do not work for some people, we saw that we have a part to play when it comes with promises with conditions. Failure to keep up to our part will hinder our receiving the promise.
Another common scripture with long and Loudest Amen is
Genesis 35:10-15 KJV And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land. And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him. And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon. And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Beth–el.
The Pastor Starts “Your name shall no more be a supplanter, no more a reproach, no more known for pain, disappointment, hardship, disfavour, sickness, dept, problem. You shall now be known as Goodness, faith, grace, joy, peace, favour, open doors, success, fortune, mercy, conqueror, pleasant, overcomer, abundance, wisdom.
Now flourish in all you do, multiply in business, in career, family, wellbeing, ministry, academics, health and wealth.
At this point, the whole church will shout hallelujah, drums and cymbals will be at their highest bit, people will dance, some will run out to the podium to dance.
The promises continue, “Be fruitful and multiply. A company of nations shall be from you, spiritually, physical, emotionally, psychologically. Kings shall come out from you in soul winning, in your children and all you do. The land where you are will be given to you for a possession, the winds are blowing all tall things low so that your hands can reach them, all things will work together for good for you, there will be rivers in the desert for you.”
What they do not understand is that you cannot jump to verse 10 of Genesis 35 without reading verse 1-4 “Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: And let us arise, and go up to Beth–el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak, which was by Shechem. Shout a big Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.
Jacob first put away all strange gods in his house before these promises were given and so must we. While the strange gods are in still in your possessions, you will see the promise land but will get nowhere near it.
